TEA Talks October 2021 In-Person
From Plato to Alcuin to Humboldt to Dewey to Mises to Hayek to T.I.N.A: Historical Perspectives for Curriculum Designers and Academic Strategic Planners
Presented by Professor Hakan Saraoglu
As Bryant’s administration and faculty leaders are crafting a curriculum and strategic plan for the next decade, several social and economic trends are taking shape that could affect the future of higher education. Successful curriculum design requires careful analysis of historical and current developments and a sound agreement on the purpose of education by all constituents. This Tea Talk will reflect on the purpose of education by remembering the perspectives of several influential figures from history and serve as an initial discussion forum for faculty who may provide input to the curriculum design and strategic planning processes.
