TEA TALKS Bryant: A Conversation with NAO the Robot

TEA TALKS Bryant: A Conversation with NAO the Robot In-Person

This multidisciplinary talk will feature a discussion on a research project at Bryant that explores the use of ro-bot assistants in multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM). It will include a demonstration where NAO the robot will hold a conversation with a human and assist in forming a portfolio of mutual funds. Present-ers will illustrate the architecture of the robot assisted MCDM and describe a method that is extensively used to structure complex decision problems and has been applied to a variety of problems in a diverse set of dis-ciplines, such as selecting a project, selecting a life insurance contract, selecting public relations firms, deciding on library acquisitions, hostage negotiations, se-lecting sites for wildlife management, and selecting a nonprofit for donation. The talk is intended to stimulate thinking on the implications for students, facul-ty, and administrators of the increasing role of robotics and artificial intelligence in the society and economy.
