Fall Faculty Forum In-Person
Teacher-Centered Teaching To Support Student-Centered Learning
The Fall Faculty Forum will be held on November 29th from 2:00-4:30 in Stepan Grand Hall—Bello Center. We ask that all attendees register for the event.
As faculty, we have rightfully focused a great deal on student-centered teaching to support student learning. But what might it mean to put the teacher at the center with their students, and how might that produce demonstrably more successful student learning experiences? The Fall Faculty Forum focus this year will address teacher-defined goals and aspirations. The sessions will be interactive, collaborative, and focused on concrete steps to support your teaching and students.
What were the goals and aspirations that brought you into teaching? What are your most important core principles that you'd like to impart in the classroom? What is the impact that you'd like to see these principles have on your student learning outcomes?
In this session, you will identify your teaching strategies, talk about ways your values align with the learning needs of students, and decide how to implement these in a way that is supportive of your teaching objectives and the learning outcomes of students.
Building on this discussion, you will also engage in interactive planning that incorporates your goals into the priorities of the Center for Teaching Excellence.
